Job Description

Nalco Water, An Ecolab Company is currently looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Process Engineering Team at its Garyville, LA Manufacturing Facility.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing a team of process engineers and an automation/controls engineer who work to foster a safe work environment, improve process efficiency, and support equipment reliability and utilization in the production and utilities units onsite.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide technical direction, professional development, and oversight of the site's process and automation engineers responsible for the production and utilities areas, including rotational LDP engineers in a process engineering role.
  • Serve as a key participant and driver of site personal and process safety efforts. Enhance personal and process safety across the site by providing effective engineering solutions to eliminate hazards and minimize risk, utilizing PSM management of change principles.
  • Ensure that manufacturing processes are adequately supported to deliver against goals: zero safety incidents, regulatory compliance, manufacturing capability standards, sustainability goals, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate and complete process safety information and compliance for production units, including PSM unit revalidation PHAs and maintaining updated SOPs.
  • Act as a technical resource for the scoping and support of capital-funded process and/or infrastructure improvement projects across all site production and utilities areas.
  • Support TPM/CI programs across the site focused on improving process efficiency, cost savings, and loss elimination. Implement elements of TPM in process improvements across site.
  • Provide technical support within work groups assembled for special product assignments (pilot designs, network initiatives, etc).
  • Facilitate and support the site's sustainability efforts through developing process improvements, scoping capital projects, and supporting site sustainability certifications.
  • Utilize data and statistical analysis as a way of developing and driving improvements.
  • Maintain high standards for safety and quality within the organization through daily practices, management of change, and incorporation of engineering standards and best practices into manufacturing processes.

Position Details:

  • This position reports to the Garyville Manufacturing Facility Plant Manager.
  • Work schedule is Monday - Friday with periodic after-hours or weekend support (as needed)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline.
  • Highly effective team leadership skills: ability to communicate across functions and cultures, set goals and collaborate on organizational attainment of stated goals.
  • Experience with equipment design, process safety, and process optimization
  • Experience with process and hazard assessment tools such as FMEA, PHA, Risk assessment.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective solutions for resolving long-standing process and equipment deficiencies.
  • Minimum 7 years related experience in manufacturing: quality, equipment engineering, process engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in multiple technology platforms, chemistries, and/or product families.
  • Experience with Process Safety Managed (PSM) facilities and chemistries.
  • Experience with equipment specification and process design
  • Experience with Process Capability measurement and Improvement planning
  • Experience with digital tools and process controls.
  • Experience with standards pertaining to SHE and Sustainability
